OMG!!! I finally got my 50 pounds gone!!! WOO HOO!!! I was jumping up and down this morning, could you all feel me??? I was so happy to see that number on the scale! WOW! Who would have thunk that I could lose 50 pounds since June 23rd of this year? OMG! Not me, that is for darn sure.

This is surreal. Do you realize that June 23rd is only 99 days ago! GEESH! 99 days and I lost 50 pounds. In any other weight loss program, that would be unbelievable success! With this program, that is par for the course! With any other program, for me to lose an average of a half a pound a day, geesh, what would I have to do? I was on Atkins for a YEAR! STRICT! Exercised every single day. And I lost 60 pounds, but it took me a YEAR! I am at 50 pounds in under 100 days! And you know what? That is with 3 weeks off eating whatever I wanted with the exception of sugars and starches...and I didn't even want them! So I was busy maintaining for three weeks and I still managed to lose an average of a half a pound a day over 100 days!!!

OMG! Did I say that yet?

What was my menu for yesterday? I had chicken soup with cabbage for lunch, and my hubby grilled some steak for dinner and I had that with some red lettuce with Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing. Was totally awesome!

Gosh people, I am at a loss...don't know what to write today. I am pretty much gonna be flying high today!

THIS POST MIGHT BE TMI FOR SOME!!! READ WITH CAUTION!



HA! This is very melodramatic! Look at that, I had a talk with my body and my body didn't listen. Well at least it gave me a compromise. So I guess I am needing to learn PATIENCE! OMG! I thought I learned patience the LAST round! I was 21 days, COUNTEM, 21 days in my 220's - 21 days to lose 10 pounds. Did that not call for PATIENCE???

Perspective Biz, perspective. Keep the faith. It will happen, it's going down, it's NOT going up and it's NOT stalling. I tell you what is happening. My body is going to make me work HARD for this 50 pound/under 200 milestone, make me APPRECIATE the SACRIFICE it took to get there, yeah, that's the ticket. It's trying to make me feel the pain. HA! YEAH BABY! I feel it already!

HA! Ok...I am over it.

So the researcher in me wouldn't let it go. Why think of me any different? I kept telling people yesterday that this whole 'down' feeling felt to me like PMS - weird because I just finished my menses on the 25th (Tuesday) - why would I feel like PMS symptoms already on Thursday and Friday? So I did a little surfing.

Very interesting site on our Menses. Very educational. I noticed over the last day or so that I am ovulating (I wont tell you HOW I know, but women, you know HOW I know). So this could definitely be attributed to the slowdown I am experiencing. Notice what this says:

The time from the beginning of menstruation counting forward to ovulation can vary tremendously from 8 to 14 days.

Since that is true, let's count from my first full day of menses which was the 18th (the Tuesday before I stopped) to my remarkable slow down - 10 days - right on the money! Let's see what Dr Simeon's says about ovulation - Under the Section Title "Interruptions of Weight Loss" and the Sub Title "Menstrual Interruption":

The fourth type of interruption is the one which often occurs a few days before and during the menstrual period and in some women at the time of ovulation.

Well, I am definitely SOME WOMEN - so this applies to me. Isn't it really wonderful that this man was such a genius and he pretty much spelled it out plainly? We women are so attached to a stupid number on a scale that we need to be reminded that we are a fine tuned baby making machine whether we ever use that function in our bodies or not. We have to deal with the cycle that happens and go on through life.

Did I need that little pick me up? Um, yes, after all, I am only human - I talk the talk to everyone else, but geesh, I am still a woman! I have my perks! I have my down moments and sometimes I need to be reminded how this is truly a MIRACLE and let it happen!

Ok...that is enough for me. Tired of feeling ick and ready to feel good again.

Let's see, what was my food yesterday - do you believe I actually forgot to eat one of my fruits yesterday??? JUST PLAIN FORGOT! What the heck is THAT about? I had my Creole Catfish again for lunch, LOVE that stuff, it is so comfort food for me, and then I had my Thai Beef Cucumber Salad for dinner.

A bit of sadness for me in the blog community yesterday - A fellow blogger and HCG newbie, along with her family decided that HCG wasn't a plan that could work for them. I was saddened by this news and quite frankly was at a loss for words. I wish them success in their journey to health, but because I want to keep my links on my blog directly HCG related, I feel I must remove their link from my list. If you visit, please understand that I wish you and your family the best in your journey to health!

Ok, so I am SO OVER my body not letting me see that 50 pound mark, it's gonna make me FIGHT for it! Well, I will soon show it whose boss.

Very down yesterday, couldn't put my finger on it, but it was weird. Seems alot of people were down yesterday. Could this all be remnants of the "Harvest Moon" - some weird wild freaky stuff going on this past week. Wanting this week to be OVER!

Had a function to go to last night for my daughter (2nd grade), it was the Autumn Family Fun Night sponsored by the PTA - it was activities and such, but then they had a dance for the kids and it was crazy! HA! I was doing the "Electric Slide" with my little girl - first time in what seems like FOREVER that I have actually gotten out there and danced. Even with my bad back. Point is, I didn't hide in the shadows as per normal. I went right out there and became part of the party. I didn't even shy away when the resident photographer who takes pics at all the functions for the school took my pic while I was dancin! How funny!

Yeah, things are starting to happen. What a concept.

My eating yesterday? Simple - I pan fried celery and beef for lunch and had my Creole Catfish for supper.

Not a long post today. Still a bit weary from yesterday, feeling better, just not 100% - my friend JPS has a 'theory' about why we get like this from time to time. She feels there are times when our bodies are not getting the nutrients we need from our abnormal fat cells - that at a point our fat cells have nothing but junk to offer us and it makes us feel like crud. Well, if that is true, and she is not scientist, then it would explain the feeling of yuck.

So with that, I will leave you all to your daily duties.

Well, lookie there, I got a little cocky yesterday and I paid for it with a "NO LOSS" - believe me when I tell you that I had to resist the urge to measure this morning - I made a deal with myself at the beginning of this round that I would only measure once a week. And I am keeping that deal.

Ok...so here are a few things I did wrong yesterday:

  1. I drank iced tea - with caffeine - and with Stevia but in any case, I never drink caffeine iced tea, hardly, maybe not never.
  2. I had cut up chicken for me for the next few days and I had like this .7 ounce piece left over, and so I just threw that in with my lunch - so in actuality I had about 4.2 oz of chicken at lunch. I should know better.
  3. And then, I had a LOT of salt yesterday. Yes, a LOT. Can you say water retention?
  4. Water intake? FOR THE BIRDS! I drank one liter, and then the other maybe 1/2 to 3/4 liter came from that blasted tea.
So all things considered, I am ok with it. No worries. I had a very good run, and it was about time for my body to do what it normally does, and that is STAIR STEP!

Speaking of stair stepping, I had written on one of the blogs I visit that I would post a graph of my weight loss so far. Pretty impressive if you ask me (you can click on it to make it larger):




Now, if you look closely at that graph, you will see that I stalled 9 different times during my first round - 4 times I stalled at 3 days the same weight and 5 times I stalled at 2 days the same weight. So I am FULLY prepared for this. But the important thing to remember is that the general trend is DOWN DOWN DOWN.

So I am 1.2 pounds away from hitting that 50 pounds gone mark! And 2.2 pounds away from UNDER 200! I am going to WILL my body to do that all in one day, so that we can have ONE celebration instead of two!

So what were my meals yesterday? I had Renee's fantastic WHITE CHILI for lunch! It was MMM MMM GOOD! She mentioned that she is on a soup kick. I just find that soup is very comforting. It forces you to eat slowly and so you can feel the fullness and the goodness. I had that with celery, and then I just whipped up steak and celery stir fry for dinner. I need to try her Apple Crisp. Maybe today. Never really been an "apple pie" fan, but I am getting kinda tired of just plain ole apples.

Shout out to my MOM! HI MOM!!! I am so happy your following my progress. You, who have never struggled with your weight, you have a working HYPOTHALAMUS! You lucky dawg you! Why couldn't I have inherited THAT gene from you??? Why did I have to get that from DAD??? Oh well...I am fixing it.

And another thing...thanks to ALL you readers out there. I really appreciate you taking time out of your busy days to glance at what I am doing. It's very encouraging!

Boring day yesterday for food choices again. I had it all in my mind that I was going to try Renee's new White Chili recipe, and when I got to my freezer to pull out meat I found I had run out of chicken! So, like the bad girl that I am, I had to have beef twice again yesterday - I had a ground beef patty for lunch with a lettuce salad, and some leftover grilled steak with onions for dinner. Today I will be creative.

Yesterday was an emotionally draining day. I don't need those anymore. There must have been some sort of gravitational pull from the moon that made everyone crazy. People acting out of character including myself. Today, I feel like a new person, with new direction and light at the end of the tunnel. So moving forward.

I have to say, that I felt much better yesterday than I did the day before. Hunger was definitely not an issue yesterday. I made it through the day without incident. I will stick to the 166iu dose today and see where I am and then I will cut back again. It's such a strange feeling to be hungry after all this time of NOT being hungry. It wasn't a craving type of hunger, not the kind of hunger that I could down anything in my path - in fact, not for once did I ever think to 'cheat' - that isn't even in the cards.

Here is a little shout out to my sister, who had to listen to my rants yesterday over the phone - thank you my Tita for being there. I know I am a "Purist" at heart, but when something works, why mess with the program. And being called on the rug for incidentals, well, it just rubbed me the wrong way and I appreciate you being there for a sounding board. Your about the best sister I could have in the world. There is nothing quite like the love of one who is both a sister and a friend. Thank you for being there. I love you dearly.

Ok, enough sappy stuff. I don't do sappy stuff well.

On to another day. I can't wait to go back to sleep so that I can see what I lost in the morning! HA! And it's only 6am! I crack myself up!

This is my blog, and I am allowed to be snarky if I want to. So be aware, I am about to be very snarky.

[snarky] Ok, sometimes I wonder. If I see something that is working for other people, I see the results, I strive to do whatever they are doing, or at least similar. When I was first starting this protocol and doing my research, my sister sent me to the Yahoo Groups "HCG Dieters" - I found a ton more groups on the web in regards to doing this protocol, but this particular group impressed me in that they were striving 'as a whole' to follow what I had read in the Dr Simeon's manuscript "Pounds and Inches". Ok - I saw results, I saw pictures, I saw that these people were genuinely working together to provide similar results in doing things the way Dr Simeons had outlined, or at least very very close.

Now, for the life of me, I can't figure out why people are wanting to make this a fad diet. It's not a fad diet, it's a medically proven program that if followed will give results across the board, no matter how little, or how much you have to lose. The group has become what Dr Simeon's so plainly put in his manuscript:

The most tiresome patients are those who start counting Calories and then come up with all manner of ingenious variations which they compile from their little books. When one has spent years of weary research trying to make a diet as attractive as possible without jeopardizing the loss of weight, culinary geniuses who are out to improve their unhappy lot are hard to take.

I am getting quite tiresome of reading posts that describe the various ingenious ways of adding things to the eating portion of this protocol and touting it as the end all answer of doing this thing correctly.

Before I get flamed, I do know that there are things that I am doing that go in direct contrast to Dr Simeons - for example, I take my shots SC, I tried SubLingual applications, I took a 3 week break instead of 6. But I don't tout for one moment changing the diet portion of this program. I feel that there is a difference in technology that allows the administering of the HCG differently than in his day - and I also feel that Dr S based the conclusions of his research on the lowest common denominator that would work for each and every client and provide success. But I don't think the "food" portion of his diet should be messed with.

I posted the following at the HCG2 Dieters Group yesterday:
Now that I have some time to truly digest this topic, let me add something else.

Why is it that we want to add to this protocol the "comfort" foods that we are so desperately trying to get rid of cravings to? Pasta is a comfort food plain and simple. I can't help but think that Dr S not only picked the foods he did because of their chemical balance, but also to teach us how to survive on not eating certain things. The man was a pure genius, and he didn't just deal with our physical bodies, but he dealt with psychological aspects also. So what if all of this was groundwork he used for us to get UNUSED to eating certain types of foods?

Let's talk Dr Atkins for a minute. Most of us have tried the low carb diet, and most of us know it works beautifully. Dr Atkins had his formula down back in the early 70's but because of various pressures along the way he had to change his diet to 'fit the times' - so much so that his organization before he died was doing all the low carb "comfort foods" - and really, if you ask me, that was the downfall of low carbing. When you start adding in all the fake stuff, you are no better off then you were when you began. If you cannot control your intake of "junk food" - no matter how they package it, then really, you will be back in the same boat you were before you even began.

I know it sounds contradictory to what I posted before, but I got to thinking, even if I could eat this "zero" calorie pasta garbage, would I want to? Would I want to get my cravings back for foods like that? I cannot express how grateful I am that I am "CRAVING" bananas instead of chips. That I could make my famous pizza dip for my family last night and not wish I had some. That I don't find myself wishing for a big
plate of spaghetti, but instead look forward with eager anticipation to my Thai Cucumber Beef Salad.

Would I be in this place had I tried this "zero" stuff? Honestly, I don't think so. I don't know because I didn't do it, but I do know that because I didn't do it, I am in this place. Did that even make sense? It did in my head.

So THAT my friends is my story, the one I am sticking to.

This is how I feel. I don't know how much posting I will do over at the HCG Dieters board anymore. It seems that the new folks on there are looking for a simple and easy way out of this obesity problem. My fear is that they will not learn the valuable lessons that Dr S wanted us to learn about our cravings and attachments to food. I do feel strongly, especially if you have hundreds of pounds to lose, that you must do what is right for you. But please don't come off as the expert and tell everyone else it will work for them too.

I am saddened by this. Truly.

As a side point ... any product that tells you that you will have to watch your intake of something because it might give you the runs? Um, NO THANKYOU. God gave us NATURAL things to help MOVE things along. I don't need to eat pasta to become regular. [/snarky]

That all being said - WOULD YOU LOOK AT THAT LOSS??? WOO HOO!!! I cant believe I am 10 days into the program and I have losing at this rate! Good for me!

Yesterday? I was EXTREMELY hungry - and nothing was satiating it, not my water, not my food. I told JPS that I wanted to go ahead and up my dosage today to see if that helps. So this morning I took about 166iu - let's see if that helps the hunger. This hunger thing is for the birds! I thought it was just a fluke on Friday with hunger, but again yesterday got me to wondering. I was also very fatigued - towards the afternoon I really didn't want to do anything.

Ok, so is this immunity? No, don't think so. Is this part of ending my menses (which finally STOPPED THANK YOU VERY MUCH)? I don't know. Could it be the fact that I lost 1.6 pounds over night? WHO KNOWS??? Is it because I only took a 3 week break? I TOLD YOU I DON'T KNOW!!! The only thing I know to try is to up my dosage and see if that works.

So I will let you know my progress.

BTW - Renee from HCG Recipes says she will be posting my Thai Cucumber Beef Recipe today!

First, I have to tell all those wonderful people out there how incredibly warm it makes me feel to hear all of your comments. It's so nice to know that by my posting updates, it's helping some out there. I do it for accountability, but it gives me warm fuzzies to hear from you folks - so don't stop! ROFL

Second, I have to tell you how happy I am to have my scale back! WOO HOO!!! It's about stinking time! Did you SEE that number? UNDER 205! Ok...now, I am back to where I was back in April of 2004 when I got home from spending some time helping family in California. That is where my downward spiral started, when I tasted a macadamia nut white chocolate chip cookie - it was all down hill from there. WOW - WOW - WOW - I just can't say it enough. WOW - this HCG thing is too cool!

Third, my food yesterday was so so - I had chicken soup for lunch, and a steak lettuce salad with strawberry dressing - oh well, today I will try to be a bit more creative.

Fourth, no long post for today - time is flying away from me.

Ok, let's talk about my day yesterday, believe it or not I find things to talk about each and every day! LOL

It all started yesterday morning...well don't all days start that way? Anyhoo, I got up and I had this incredibly LONG pee. I mean the kind of pee that NEVER ends. I know you people out there know what I am talking about. I kept thinking I could get up, and nope, it was still going. Ok...so whatever. I finally finished and went about my normal morning activities.

About an hour later, I had to pee again. Now mind you, I haven't drank any water between the two pees, so I really have no idea where all of this is coming from. I think nothing more about it until the NEXT time I have to go in! Now it's light outside and I can see things in the mirror I couldn't see before - and mind you, it's a BIG mirror - so I am looking at my thighs/butt and no kidding, they were relatively smooth the day before (Friday), whereas this day (Saturday) they had become LARGE CURD COTTAGE CHEESE CITY. I was like, where the heck did THAT come from??? OMG! VERY WEIRDNESS!!!

So I am thinking to myself, wow, that is just weird...this is probably the process where I am expelling all this abnormal fat and my cells are still there but not broken down and they are empty and that is what is giving this cottage cheese effect??? Who knows? But that is my story and I am sticking to it. Today? The large cottage cheese thing is not so bad. So I am wondering if they have now filled up with water and that will help them break down? Look at me acting like I know what I am talking about! HA!!!

I do want to add here also, that Friday, I experienced hunger. Real hunger that I hadn't felt for like almost 3 months, it was a very strange feeling. Not uncomfortable, uncontrollable hunger, but hunger. The kind of hunger that water wasn't helping. When I ate tho, I was satiated. Could be all part of the process.

Ok...so what was on my plate yesterday? I had Beef Curry Stew for lunch, mmmmmm, and my husband grilled steaks last night so I had that and cucumbers with lemon, garlic, braggs and cilantro. Pretty much a uneventful day. I did something I don't normally do in that I had two beefs yesterday. Bad, bad, girl.

My son comes back into town today. He called last night all worried about the restaurant his "party" had picked to eat at - a Japanese Steakhouse! I told him what he could eat and what he couldn't. He will call me this morning and let me know his weight. I had dreams about the poor boy last night! OMG - I dreamed that he had to do a steak day on his very first Phase 3 day! ROFL

*Ok - Since I am being MORE than candid in my reports (updates), I have to state that I really don't know how much I weigh today. My son, who had his last injection on Thursday had to head out of town so I let him take my GOOD scale. He has far more important weigh ins for today and tomorrow than I do. I have my OLD scale that I am using. I made sure yesterday that I placed my OLD scale in a spot on the floor that it wouldn't move so I could be reasonably sure it would weigh me semi correctly. I weighed myself yesterday on both scales and marked down both weights. I know the difference between the two - so anyhoo, just for kicks I weighed myself on my OLD scale and it says I lost two pounds. Oh well ... I just know that isn't true, so I am giving myself a .6 loss and will wait until I know for sure on Monday morning.

So that out of the way, I didn't do my Thai Salad yesterday, but instead I mixed up some Taco Seasoning from Renee's site and I had Beef Fajitas for lunch and Shrimp Fajitas for dinner! Don't worry folks, I gave Miss Renee my recipe for the fajitas which I am sure she will post. You will need to go over to HCG RECIPES and join her blog to get updates on her recipes! I went there this morning and she posted my recipe for Creole Catfish! How utterly cool is that! We are working together on some of my recipes so stay tuned!

My good friend JPS had passed down a pair of brown slacks to me. Remember my brown pants story yesterday? Well these are a completely different pair. I slipped them on yesterday and during the day, I kept having to pull them up. I was like, what is WITH these pants. It didn't even register that they might have been TOO BIG for me! What is funny is that it took tripping on the bottom of the legs about 5 times yesterday before I finally said, this is NUTS! I can't fit in these things! Seriously, there was NO thought in my head that they were too big. My mind wouldn't let me comprehend that they were too big!

Now let me explain something here. JPS is about 30 pounds lighter than me. She wore these pants on the last round until they literally FELL OFF HER. Every time she would come to my house with these pants on I would laugh and tell her that they were TOO BIG for her butt and that it was TIME to give them to me. She never wanted to part with them. NEVER. Finally she had to. Now, I waited TOO long to wear them! OMG! So, I will wash them and give them back to her proudly! HA!

You know, I thought about setting up a interim swap thing for people losing and needing clothes...but by the time you go off and send them they probably wont fit in them anymore! OMG!

Miss Lilly is supposed to be sending me some stuff this week. Some large shirts. I said, don't be surprised if I have to send them back! ROFL

Ok, I know I keep telling you to be prepared for something brewing behind the scenes, well, we are ALMOST ready for release ... it will be all goose pimply I promise!

Well how about that? Another .8 pounds bites the dust! So now, the countdown begins ... let's see here, let's figure this out ...

6.8 pounds till I reach the 50 pound mark
7.8 pounds till I reach the under 200 mark

Oh yeah baby! WOO HOO!

What was my food yesterday - Oh yeah, I had my Thai Beef Cucumber Salad again, gotta love that! Cucumbers don't stay very well in my fridge so I have to use them up fairly fast. So it will probably be the same for lunch today, plus, I absolutely ADORE that salad! It's a treat! For supper, I tried my hand at one of Renee's Recipes - Shrimp Fried Rice - but instead of shrimp I used chicken. I have to tell you, that as far as presentation is concerned, it didn't look all that good, but when I tasted it? Oh yeah baby! It was simply ONOLICIOUS!

Today is FRIDAY!!! Sunday is measurement and picture day! I think this time I will be putting three pics side by side - beginning of protocol, end of first round and progress with round two. That should prove to be interesting.

So I have these brown elastic pants - they SAY they are a 22W - but I purchased them from Wally World at the same time I purchased a pair of black pants and the black ones were always MUCH bigger than the brown ones, yet they were marked the same size. I had to get rid of the black ones a while ago because they were just way too big. The brown ones at the end of round one were still semi fitting. Yesterday ... I was sitting on my couch talking to my sister on the phone, and looked down at my pants and I was like, DANG, these things are loose. So after my call ended I went to the bathroom mirror to see what they looked like from behind, and I was like, EWWWWWWWWW - I could be a GANG member in these things! OMG! Into the bag going to Goodwill they went.

In fact, I spent some time yesterday going through some clothes to give away this morning. I told someone yesterday (Hi Martha!) that this is the very first time in my life and experience of dieting that I actually feel comfortable getting rid of my 'fat' clothes. I don't feel compelled at all to keep them "just in case". First time I actually feel that this time, the weight will STAY off. WOW - when that realization hit me, I was like DANG!

Ok - so what is with that pic up in the corner? HA! My sister and I had so much fun with that yesterday! We were designing ourselves! She cracked up said it looked JUST LIKE ME! HA! I wish I looked that good! I am going to change it for every 10 pounds I lose and so you have an idea of what I look like. If you want to make your own, go here. If anyone out there knows my sister, this is what she looks like! Honest to goodness! From the capris up!!! WOW! I was cracking up when she sent this to me! HA! I love my sister to pieces, do you all know that? She is the best in the world. I HEART YOU MISS LILLY! She is the one responsible for getting me on this protocol ya know? Gotta love her for all sorts of reasons.

We made some with bathing suits, wont be sharing those with you as of yet. HA! But that was fun, we laughed and laughed!!!

Ok, one thing you have to know about me is that I always give TMI (too much information) - what is this protocol without sharing all the goods AND the bads?

I think asparagus binds me. Yup, I did not have a "healthy" BM this morning and I do believe it was reflected on the scale. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining, .6 is more than half a pound and I am thrilled, but I do have these thoughts that my being regular is directly related to what I see on the scale.

I had my famous "Thai Cucumber/Beef Salad" yesterday for lunch, mmmm, that was delish! And then Catfish stir fried with asparagus with cajun seasoning.

Nothing real eventful happening yesterday. Getting back into the swing of things. Feeling good. Back is feeling better. It's already Thursday! WOW - almost 1 week down - Picture update and measurement update coming up on Sunday.

I have someone close to me that is taking their Last Injection today - Just one day short of 5 weeks - he is going to take a 3 week break and then come back on for another round. He started at 215.6 (don't know what his load weight was as there were scale issues, that is the morning of his first load days weight which we know is correct). Yesterday, he was at 191.2 - so as of yesterday he was 24.4 down. Will give you an update when I know - it will probably be tomorrow.

ETA 8:15am Eastern - He is 189.8 today! That is his LIW - Totally AWESOME for him getting under 190!

Can I give another plug for our newsletter? Getting totally excited about that! Also, there are other things brewing behind the scenes, please stay tuned!

Ok, I don't know about anyone else, but I am quite disappointed in my choice of apples this round. OMG - I discovered Pink Ladies during my last round and I have to say that these are about the best apples known to man. I had to purchase Braeberns, and they are not even close. They are too sour. Ugh.

My menu yesterday included Salisbury Steak! WOO HOO! Talk about comfort food! I made gravy using a melba toast and beef broth and then threw some onions in chopped pretty thin in rings and they resembled noodles! I was in heaven! Good 'ole Creole Catfish again for supper.

Let's talk about my stats for a moment...do you even realize that I am only 7.4 pounds away from hitting the 50 pound mark? OMG! That is totally doable in the next 10-14 days. And I'm only 8.2 away from being under 200? Wouldn't it just be phenom if I did both those HUGE milestones in one day??? I can't even imagine!

I know I have said this before, but I was on Atkins - started back in Dec of 2002 and I was pretty darn strict for a year and lost 60 pounds to the day Dec 2, 2002 - Dec 2, 2003 - that is when I went from 248 - 188 - 60 pounds lost. Only to be found again! LOL - but seriously, I gained back pretty easily until I got back up to 250.8 when I started this protocol. To think that it's possible that I will reverse almost 4 years of damage in just 4 months is nothing short of miraculous. That is why my 'goal' is a little low - sure, I would like to see more come off, but if I can just see me get under that 188 number, I will feel like a million bucks.

Aunt Flo is really irritating me to no end. It hasn't affected my weight loss, so there is a good thing. But it sure has made me crabby and emotional - UGH - I have been feeling emotionally stable for some time now but I became unglued about something yesterday and it totally took me by surprise.

Can you believe that I already told my husband what I want for my first meal on Phase 3? What is WRONG with me??? HA! I had to laugh! To show you how much of an effect it had on me, I can't even remember what I told him I wanted! ROFL - It was just a passing thing. Here is what is interesting - I find myself watching more Food Network (it doesn't help that they just added the Food Network "HD" channel!!!) then I ever have. I do find that I like to watch the Italian Girl and the Bobby Flay guy alot - but those that I used to like to watch, like that Paula lady? I am like grossed out by her foods now because she cooks so unnaturally! UGH! I used to LOVE her show! And that woman that cooks quick meals? All the processed food she puts in her stuff is absolutely ick!

Well, another day bites the dust. Only 43 more days until my first Phase 3 meal! HA! - Do I give you the impression that I want to eat Phase 3? Actually, I have to admit that I am perfectly fine with Phase 2 - I just am anxious to see that 180something number!!!!

September 18, 2007 - Day 3 of VLCD (Round Two)

I had a grilled burger and coleslaw for lunch and Creole Catfish for dinner! mmmmmmm

Oh yes, gotta love that HCG! I honestly didn't think I would see under 210 until a few days, but here I am at the start of the third day on VLCD and I am 209.4!!! How utterly cool is that?!?! Back into the swing already, back into feeling no hunger, back into feeling like a million bucks! And let's just watch this weight fall off of me!

One thing I am doing different this round...I am concentration on water between 2 and 2.5 liters a day. I believe Dr S was on to something with is recommendation. Last round I was doing anywhere from 3 - 4 liters a day.

Ok, here is a weird thing...probably on the verge of TMI so fair warning...Friday when I started the injections - I started 'spotting' that day, a hint that Aunt Flo was going to pay me a visit. Saturday was the same thing. Sunday, the same, but the cramps started. Yesterday, she really reared her ugly head! OMG!!! Where did this come from??? She wasn't due for a visit until 10 or so days from my first injection, as she was just here 2.5 weeks prior. She surely knows how to wear out her welcome!

I thought about what to do and said, just go ahead and inject through it, it's your very first few days and what is it gonna matter...so here I am. I will update to let you know how it goes.

There was some talk on the Yahoo board yesterday about spices and their counts. I seriously don't know if I got my point across. It's really sad that the FDA allows any serving of anything that is under 5 calories to be listed as "zero" - even if they cut that serving down to 1/4 tsp. Does anyone know how SMALL 1/4 tsp is of anything??? If something is 4 calories per 1/4 tsp they don't have to report it as any calories - 1 tablespoon of that would be 48 calories, do you see how that works?

Well, forewarned is forearmed. I am dropping it.

Another thing...I am getting disenchanted with people that feel their way is the only way. We are all individuals and have to work this protocol to fit our individual needs. I totally understand that someone with 100's of pounds to lose will be more likely to 'fit' this protocol into their lifestyle and more power to them. Just if you deviate from the protocol and don't lose, or lose slowly, don't complain.

And another thing, while I am on my soap box - people, I appreciate KT bringing this protocol out to the forefront and making us all aware that it's here and available. But he is NOT the end all answer to this - he is NOT a doctor - he is not even a scientist. He had success on the protocol and decided to capitalize on it and wrote a book. The law states you can take any copy written work and change it 50% and you can make it your own. He did that, he took Dr S's book and changed it 50% and is calling it his own. He changed things to needing organic, or needing 200iu, or not able to have oranges, or only a handful of veggies, or needing to do cleanses - all things that go in direct conflict with Dr S. Please don't spew that we live in different times, so they call for different measures. It's been proven over and over again that you follow the Dr S plan you lose weight, without the cleanses, without the organics, without the supps.

Ok - off that particular soapbox.

September 17, 2007 - Day 2 of VLCD

My meals for the day included Frank's Chili (you have to be a member of YahooGroups to see the recipe) - and while it was tasty (a bit too spicy, even for me), I was shocked to find out the calorie count when I entered everything into fit day. Let me copy and paste what I wrote on the YahooGroup this morning about this:

Yesterday for my first day of VLCD, and for my first meal, I decided to make Frank's Chicago Style Chili - when I entered my food into fit day I was a little shocked at the calorie counts and wanted to let people know
some things.

Since we are to one veggie and we try to dress it up as much as possible, please be aware that there are calories in spices. For example - For Frank's Chili he calls for the following, and this is what the calorie count is for each:

1 tbsp chili powder - 24 cals
1 tsp cayenne pepper - 6 cals
1 tbsp cumin - 23 cals
1 tsp pepper - 5 cals

So as you can see, I added 58 calories in just spices alone to my meal. That can add up in one day and you might could go over the 500 calorie limit without even knowing.

Here are some other spices to be aware of:

1 tsp garlic powder - 9 cals
1 tsp onion powder - 8 cals
1 tsp oregano - 5 cals
1 tsp paprika - 5 cals
1 tsp curry - 8 cals
1 tsp ginger - 6 cals

Just something to be aware of if your really counting calories for this protocol.

So, other than that little bit of information, I had an uneventful day. Except for the fact that I lost 3 pounds - so anything after this is pure gravy! LOL - how about that, I lost all of my gain in one day.

JPS and I were talking a bit yesterday evening - we both feel differently this round then we did last round. The appeal of food pretty much disappeared during round 3. We were just as "not hungry" yesterday as we had been on Phase 3 - food has definitely lost it's hold on me it seems.

Ok, what is with this weather??? It's September and I have to make sure my kids have sweaters to go to school this morning??? I don't usually do the 'switch' over until October sometime???

Ugh, my back is hurting - heading to the chiropractor this morning.

September 16, 2007 - Day 1 of VLCD

Ok, looking over the menu, you will see that I didn't eat a whole bunch yesterday. The carb fest that I had enjoyed the night before ended up making me feel a bit like not eating. I started the morning with some cantaloupe, only because it's not allowed on Phase 2 and I really wanted some before I started again. I did have some crumbs that were in a bag of Ruffles that were leftover, just to see how I would like them, or not. Not so much - they were INCREDIBLY salty.

Then, around 1pm I started to drink Gin and Tonics - needless to say I got pretty tipsy pretty quickly! LOL - Dinner was my husbands lasagna, which I have to admit is pretty darn good. That and garlic bread (not so much). Then his lemon meringue pie for desert. Interesting, up until the dessert, I had no headache, and then BAM - with the pie I had an almost immediate headache. Sugar? Oh yeah!

Some things that are interesting about load. Technically - these last two days would have been my start of Phase 4 - adding sugars and starches into my eating plan. In these last two days I am only .6 above LIW - I wouldn't even qualify for a steak day yet. Does that mean I am truly 'reset'? I couldn't and WOULDN'T eat like how I have eaten over the last two days for life, but it's interesting to think that I did well adding those things in - but my body definitely rejected them! Headaches and explosions!

From my previous load I had purchased a Snickers (my fall back chocolate - about the only chocolate I like) and a package of Peanut M&M's and they have been sitting in my fridge waiting for me to do on this load. I looked at them both days and finally threw the Snickers to my daughter and told her have at it, I don't want it. I couldn't part yet with the M&M's yet tho, they are still sitting in my fridge for NEXT load! LOL

I am so thankful that this round I have this website to go to for recipes - HCG Recipes - Renee has come up with more than a few excellent recipes for this protocol, that make this thing definitely more interesting! Thank you Renee for taking the time to put together this wonderful database of great meals! I actually mixed the Orange Julius for my son yesterday and he was in HEAVEN!

So what is on the menu today? You know? I really have no idea! I was so caught up in what I was doing for LOAD that I completely neglected going out and buying me stuff for my VLCD - so JPS and I are going shopping this morning. Thank goodness for 24 Hour Wal-Marts! ROFL

And to end this post...today, I turn 45 - I don't do birthday's so I would humbly ask that you don't wish me a "Happy Birthday" - but I just think it's interesting that this is my first VLCD day and it's on the way to a weight I haven't been in DECADES. What a way to start my 45th year on this earth!

September 15, 2007 - Round 2 - 2nd Load Day

As you can see, I went Mexican AND Sushi AND drank - was filled to the RIM - and I thought I was gonna gain 5 pounds, and here I am at my LIW - Isn't that a hoot???

Ok, I have to admit, while thinking of loading I never, ever, ever considered Sushi - OMG - what the PERFECT thing to load on! All that fret for NOTHING - it wasn't junk food, it was actually QUITE healthy - I had all sorts of stuff:

Abalone Salad
Squid Salad
Edamane (SoyBeans Cooked - OMG I LOVE THESE!)
Soft Shell Crab Roll
Chicken Katsu (ate what was leftover on my daughters plate) WITH the sweet sauce
Bit of Fried Rice
2 Gin and Tonics!!! Regular soda!!! No aspartame ridden stuff for me!

Really, REALLY enjoyed last nights food. It's so hard to really count up all the calories when you have no idea what things weigh and also when you have no idea what is in certain things. But I am gonna estimate that I ate around 3000 calories yesterday. Alot.

I know this will be TMI - but when I got home I basically EXPLODED. LOL - it didn't stay in me for long that is for sure!

Well, here I am off to a new day of loading - today on the menu is Lasagna - HA!

September 14, 2007 - Round 2 - 1st Load Day

Ok, this is where it begins! I have taken my pictures, I have taken my measurements - I have even taken my shot! So here it is, this is where I walk the walk! I been wanting to be here ever since I started my phase 3 back on the 24th of August.

Here are stats for your perusal:

Mixing our own HCG (doing this with JPS) - 125iu for 6 days a week. Following Dr Simeon's protocol.

Weight 211.4 (incidentally this is 2.4 under LIW)

I have decided to take my measurements using a new contraption called a "Myotape" - even tho JPS had purchased these during our last round I didn't use it because it was a bit different than using the tape measure and I wanted to keep consistent with what I first measured with. But I measured with both this morning and they were close (same ratio difference with each measurement) so I will consistently use this throughout this next round. So my measurements are as follows:

Neck 14"
Bicep 13.75"
Forearm 10.25"
Chest 42"
Waist 39.5"
Hips 49.5"
Thigh 27.5"
Calf 17"

Ok, if you know what my ended measurements were you will see there is a remarkable difference from one time frame to the next, especially in the waist, hips and thigh area. I don't know why that is, I even weigh less than my LIW - all I can think of is that fat has been redistributed since I started eating regular food again.

This just goes to show you that the scale is NOT reliable, it's the measurements that count. That is what matters, and that is what I will be concentrating on this round more than ever.

So here I go to load. On what? NOTHING strikes my fancy, but I will try to increase calories - even if I have to drink them (I do plan on having a Gin and Tonic tonight). At any rate, I will try to eat things I think I "might" miss while doing this round.

My goal this round is to just get under 188 - why that number you may ask. 188 is how far I got down during my stint with Atkins in 2003 (actually from Dec 2002 - Dec 2003 - loss of 60 pounds) - so getting below that is a goal. This is a total of 23.6 from today - but I don't know what it will be from Sunday which will be my first VLCD day. Will I gain? I am sure, especially since I am considering drinking for the next two days. I might even throw in a Kahlua and Cream for kicks!

There it is, there ya go. Thanks for following my progress. It's nice to start this round with absolutely no apprehension because I know what to expect, each step of the way. Much better prepared this round then I was last round. Boy is that an understatement.

Another day, another pound loss! I seriously do not know what happened because I ate a total of over 1800 calories yesterday and I lost 1.6 pounds from yesterday to today. There is NO rhyme or reason. So as of today I am 1 pound under my LIW.

September 9, 2007 - Day 16 on Phase 3

Someone was kind enough to email me and ask me if I was taking a break from blogging. First I have to thank this kind person for even taking the time to read this blog, but then also to email me to let me know that my blogging was missed!

I have been very remiss about blogging, only because it's the same story - different day. I felt that nothing was noteworthy about my Phase 3 experience so why blog. But then I was sitting here thinking, that really isn't true, there have been MANY noteworthy things happening during this phase, and I really should document them.

I think the best way to document is by me copying and pasting a couple of postings that I have had over on the Yahoo board recently...so here I go:

Sept 5 - Banana's and Peanut Butter - MMMMMMM

I just ate a banana with some natural peanut butter. I have to tell you, that I enjoyed that better than I have ever enjoyed a pig out on a bag of Ruffles. You want to talk "comfort food" - that is it in a nut shell. Pun intended!

I swear people, this continues to astound me, the way I am feeling about food. I am skeptical even of my own self - it's surreal - I sometimes feel like I am experiencing an out of body experience. This can't really be me this is happening to.

My husband is going to pick up chinese food for dinner. He asked if I wanted anything, and can you believe that I have absolutely no desire for anything chinese? I used to love their wings, but they don't sound good. Nothing from there sounds good.

Gosh, it's just weird.


Sept 7 - Biz - Loading idea with good foods

I was having this conversation with Lynne because I have realized after being on Phase 3 for two weeks (today is my 2 week anniversary!) that I have absolutely no desire for Mexican food...and that is my fave choice usually. It's not that I don't want the junk, it's that I really don't have a desire for it. It's just not there. Before Simeon, I could down ANYTHING Mexican, no matter how much I had eaten already. The thought of going to a Mexican Restaurant does absolutely NOTHING for me.

Chinese is my 2nd fave food - hubby went to get Chinese the other night, asked me if I wanted anything, and I was shocked to hear the words "NO" come out of my mouth. Just didn't want it. No desire for it whatsoever.

I sit here trying to think of anything sweet I want...nope, except that banana fried in butter sprinkled with cinnamon. THAT sounds good. A scoop of butter pecan ice cream? Nope, not in the least. That actually made me feel a little sick thinking about it.

Nuts are always a good choice. Avocados are another. Let's start brainstorming. I am getting used to this feeling of general well being, I don't want to slide down that slippery slope of junk food again. I know what hunger feels like, I have already experienced what missing food feels like, I don't need to "LOAD" to not feel hungry. That isn't an issue. If I am hungry? I will eat me 10 ounces of lettuce to fill up my tummy. LOL

So there you go. Tomorrow I will spend some time and load up my fit day food logs so you can see the things I have eaten.
